making choices

There is a loneliness in
honing it down to the bone.
Sun and shadows, dappled meadows
greener than chlorophyll
sweeten the desire for sweetened desire.
This red clay will steal your shoes.
This muggy sun will make you sweat.
A child was killed near here by a car
going a hundred miles an hour.
The hoe knows cotton from weeds,
hide under a big hat to not be seen.
Brother died before he was weaned.

It had become separated from the mob by 75 words

Yesterday I cooked too many potatoes
so that was the entree, then today
I found one little purple potato,
my impulse was to throw it away.

Instead I put it in the oven to bake
and in the meantime sliced three
portobellos and put them in hot oil
the bell went ding for the potato

so …

I mashed it up with oil and salt. Gestalt.
On another day I will eat like a beast. Feast.
